We work across borders, cultures, and languages. Blending investigative elements with strong character-driven storytelling, these films resonate on both an emotional and political level.

The Team

Gunilla Film was founded in 2023 by filmmaker and journalist Emilio Di Stefano and producer Daniéla Frykstrand, who together bring extensive experience from both documentary, broadcast journalism, and feature film production.

Emilio Di Stefano has a background at SVT, where he produced, developed new formats, and directed several documentaries for TV. His work blends journalism with cinematic storytelling, with a focus on social issues. Emilio’s work has often taken him deep into unusual and unexpected human stories, where personal destinies unfold in ways that are both striking and revealing.

Daniéla Frykstrand brings many years of experience from feature films and TV drama, working in art department on productions such as Utvandrarna, 438 dagar, and Nelly Rapp. In documentary filmmaking, she has produced and co-produced films that have premiered both in cinemas and on national broadcasters.
