Gunilla Film - Capturing human stories with impact

Gunilla Film AB is a bold and independent production company dedicated to telling compelling, socially relevant stories through documentary filmmaking. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, we specialize in powerful narratives that shed light on migration, culture, injustice, and human resilience.

With a passion for in-depth storytelling, we produce films that resonate on both an emotional and political level. Our previous work has gained significant traction and we collaborate with major broadcasters to bring vital, untold stories to the world. Gunilla Film wants to give a voice to those who need to be heard.

The company was founded in 2023 by Emilio Di Stefano & Daniéla Frykstrand

Emilio Di Stefano, documentary filmmaker and journalist. Emilio has worked for several years at SVT in Gothenburg as a segment producer and producer. At SVT, he also developed new formats, such as the debated documentary series Persona Non Grata and the discussion show The Filterbubble.

He has directed the documentaries Denim Hunter (TV4), Gubbstrutsar (SVT), and the radio documentary The Million Dollar Scam – The Man Who Answered a Nigerian Letter (P3 Dokumentär).

Daniéla Frykstrand, producer. After many years in the set design team for feature films and TV series—including Utvandrarna, 438 dagar, Sommarn 85, Nelly Rapp, and Forever—working as a props master and set design assistant, Daniéla transitioned from drama to documentary filmmaking.

She was the production manager for Lukas Moodysson’s Tillsammans 99 and Vi går inte härifrån, both produced by Memfis.

She produced the 48-minute documentary Gubbstrutsar (SVT, 2024) and co-produced the feature documentary Denim Hunter, which premiered in cinemas and is now available on TV4.
